Frequent Questions
How do personal training sessions work?
Personal training sessions start on-time with stretching and warm up for about 5-10 minutes. This is essential before the session moves to larger strength movements and targeted accessory movements (using bodyweight, equipment, or machines). All movements are explained, demonstrated, and then supported by Coach Marsh so you execute everything like a pro. The last 10 minutes of your session include cool-down and stretching as well as a check in on your body and input on your sessions and goals.
What experience levels do you work with?
I have worked with all ages and stages of clients and welcome adults, kids, and teens. Experience levels range from those who are completely new to movement and have never stepped foot in a gym, to athletes looking for a competitive edge, and even those coming back to fitness after injury, life changes, or years away.
What kind of training goals do people have?
Some come to training to improve strength, build muscle, or improve mobility. Many have events, teams, or competitions they want to condition towards. I have also supported job-specific training for those in emergency response, or even the service industry. And several have rehabilitative needs after injuries, illness, or simply the effects of aging. Whether you’re training for a sport, aesthetic improvement, or to stand and walk with less pain, we’ve got you.
In-person or virtual training?
In-person training is the best option for those learning new skills or people who want to get the most out of coaching and accountability. We see the fastest, most lasting results through in-person coaching. It’s a great way to add routine and participate in a great community.
Virtual training is the best option for those with tough schedules or travel, but are confident using equipment and following training programs independently at their own facility. These programs are an awesome way to train without having to create your own program or alternative movements.
Where does in-person training happen?
In-person training takes place in West Seattle at Westside Fitness, 4617 36th Ave SW, near Fauntleroy and Alaska. This is an independently owned gym I have trained clients at for years. Some sports conditioning needs require use of local playing fields and are discussed in advance.
How do you navigate client injuries or unique physical needs?
Ultimately, you know your body best! That said, I’m committed to meeting you where you’re at, applying appropriate modifications, equipment, and progressive improvement that’s needed. I use extensive research and tap into a broad network of fitness practitioners to bring you effective, relevant guidance. Your safety, comfort level, and ability to maintain progress are of utmost importance.
What should I bring/wear to my sessions?
Wear comfortable clothing, athletic wear preferred, that you are able to move extensively in. Closed toed sneakers or tennis shoes are a must, as well as a water bottle. There is space available for your purse, a bag, coat, and small belongings so the gym floor stays clear.
How does pricing and payment work?
Please see pricing on the main page for in-person training, virtual programs, and Sunday Sprint Club. Payments can be made on Zelle or Venmo directly to Coach Marsh. Payment is due weekly for in-person training, or monthly for virtual sessions. Sunday Sprint Club payments are made each session.
How do booking and cancellations work?
The first step to booking is a consultation where your schedule and availability is discussed. Sessions take place at various times of day Monday-Friday. Clients may directly text Marsh with cancellations and rescheduled sessions. 24 hours notice of a cancellation is required to keep the schedule updated for all clients.
